Focus Paihia Community Charitable Trust

Paihia is at the heart of the Bay of Islands and as we all know, the Bay is an incredibly beautiful and naturally magnificent environ. It is the reason that we live and work here and why we attract a large number of visitors.

We, here at the Focus Paihia Community Charitable Trust (FPCCT), want to ensure that we keep the community informed and involved. So this site has being specially developed for you the people of Paihia (and of course anyone else that is interested in what we are up to!)

So, please use it. Share your ideas, ask questions, make suggestions, learn from others and generally just get or stay involved.

Ideas for improving the waterfront in Paihia are being sought from residents from today until Friday 13 January 2023.

The ideas will feed into community workshops focusing on projects that will strengthen community co-development skills. Specifically, the areas residents are being asked to have their say on are Horotutu-Our Place (the green space near Paihia Wharf) and the Bluff, which overlooks Paihia.

Community design workshops are scheduled to run at the Copthorne Hotel on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 January, the weekend after submissions close. They will be facilitated by David Engwicht, a well-known ‘place maker’ who lectures worldwide on issues of transportation, community, and creativity.

A final design for Horotutu will be completed as a result of the workshops. Further consultation with local hapū will be undertaken prior to a design for the Bluff being completed.

If you’re unable to attend both days:
Please attend and contribute where possible or submit your ideas online through this link https://farnorthdistrictcouncil.mysocialpinpoint.com/paih…
