Thanks to Todd and Rocky Evers from Alfresco’s, who are the volunteer Drivers of this project. Plans have been finalized to fix the seating on the beachfront of TAIPUTUPUTUPAHI Beach, Marsden Rd. There will also be new lighting and additional seating built around some of the trees.
- New Lighting to be installed along the waterfront – the same as the tall box lights in Horotutu.
- Replace the 2 tired picnic tables at the Seaview Rd end of the beach with Macrocarpa slab tables.
- Rebuild the flat seating along the Marsden Rd waterfront – replace the timber and widen the seat surface area.
- Build seats around 4 of the pohutakawa trees along Marsden Rd – similar to those around the trees in the centre of Horotutu. Proposed locations: 2 at the Seaview Rd end of the beach, 1 opposite Only Seafood, 1 opposite St Pauls Church.
WHEN & HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Construction was due to start in mid July but due to the weather the first step (post holes) could not be started. However Todd says he and those that have volunteered already will manage the holes and then put the call out for more help to construct. It is likely to be on a Sunday. Focus Paihia will keep you posted as to when this will happen via Facebook and the Focus Paihia subscription database. Alternatively If you want to get involved please contact Todd on 027 649 9895 with your details or drop us an email here at Focus Paihia.
