Wow! What a great night. The Fashion Show held on 3 June was the best yet! It was a complete sell out and before the show was even over people were asking “when is the next one?”. There is always a wonderful atmosphere at the Op Shop shows and this one did not disappoint. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The team at ALONGSIDE made every effort to ensure a warm welcome to guests albeit a blustery night. Always prepared the local fashion pack were all suitably dressed and rugged up for a night of alfresco a la mode – all looking remarkably chic despite the layers. There were familiar faces from Kerikeri in there too.
Delicious food and wine flowed. Many thanks to SARAH, GAIL & MIKE for sponsoring the event. Their generosity was exceptional, not only for providing food and wine free of charge but also for closing the restaurant for the whole day to allow for the set up. Also huge thanks to CATHERINE for all of her arranging, for the music and for anything else that was asked for.
The catwalk looked magnificent, fairy lights and strips of blue toned chiffon floating on the breeze. With some outstanding ingenuity and hard labour from JOHNNY CASH and the STAFF AT ALONGSIDE, the wind was kept at bay. Well done for your efforts. Also huge thanks to BRUCE GORDON for installing the catwalk and his general support.
Show organiser extraordinaire, KATH WILLIAMS, was supported behind the scenes by Stage Manager GILL SECCOMBE, and model dressers, JEN BLANCHON, GLORIA HAWKINS, HELEN TE HARRA and SHARON PABIROSKI. Hair was done by LISA DOVE and make up by SUZI PAUL and CASSIE MORRISON. Huge thanks to all the busy bees backstage!
KATH and her able bodied team of volunteers sent a bevvy of beautiful models down the runway, complete with contemporary outfits, some for less than $30 total! All of the models worked that runway to a tee, enchanting the audience with their own unique look and personality. There was some fancy footwork from GEOFF WILLIAMS and BOB GLEN, matching their charm and effortless sense of style. Great humour and entertainment! Milan will be knocking!
The crowds were delighted by lovely ladies, TAUNAHA SMITH, LUCY DOULL and KATJA CAULTON, looking as ravishing as ever and playing up to friends in the front row. A pleasure to watch. Simply stunning. Paris will be knocking! Both naturals on the catwalk, the ever graceful DIANE GLEN and RHONDA BLAKIE, complete with her little white pooch, making a special appearance. DEBBIE KERR and SANDY JANSEN radiated glamour and vitality.
Last but not least, there were more wonderful volunteers – on the drinks, the door and the raffles, ROWENA JOYCE, TERESA BOWATER, SUE PIN and DIANE SOUTHEY. Thank you to RACHEL at PARADISE FLORIST and CINDY at REVERISCO for donating the prizes. Thank you to all involved and to all those who attended. It was brilliant! See you at the next one.
